At the center of pediatric oncology in Copenhagen the investigators experience that the children with brain tumor, more or less have a healthy body with normal skeletal muscle mass and are physical active to the same level as their friends at the same age. The treatment period for brain tumor is approximately two years. After the treatment period, the children are more sedative with less interest in coming out doing physical activities and thus the investigators suspect that they have altered hormonal response, low skeletal muscle mass and perhaps are in risk of developing metabolic syndrome. By comparing children with newly...
This work aims to evaluate neurocognitive performance, daily activity and quality of life and local control among patients with brain metastasis (MBM) ≥ 5 due to solid tumors treated with Stereotactic RadioSurgery (SRS) or Whole Brain RadioTherapy (WBRT). This multicentric randomised controlled trial will be conducted at the Fondazione IOM (Viagrande) in collaboration with REM (Viagrande), Hospital G. Martino (Messina) and Hospital Civico ARNAS (Palermo). It will involve, within 5 years starting from 15 September 2020, the enrollment of 100 patients (50 for each arm) with MBM ≥ 5, age ≥ 18 years, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) ≥...
This phase II trial studies how well whole brain radiation therapy works with standard temozolomide chemo-radiotherapy and plerixafor in treating patients with glioblastoma (brain tumor). Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Plerixafor is a drug that may prevent recurrence of glioblastoma after radiation treatment. Giving whole brain radiation therapy with standard temozolomide ...
To learn if the study drug, ulixertinib, can cross over the blood-brain barrier in patients with recurrent brain tumors
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of WSD0922-FU for the treatment of glioblastoma, anaplastic astrocytoma, or non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to the central nervous system (central nervous system metastases). WSD0922-FU is a targeted treatment which blocks the EGFR protein - a strategy that has led to a lot of benefit in patients with many different cancers. WSD0922-FU may also be able to get into cancers in the brain and spinal cord and help patients with brain and spinal cord cancers. Funding Source - FDA OOPD
This study will gather data from new and existing patients with patient medical records, and patient/family/caregiver reported information to establish a clear natural history of disease suitable to serve as an external, contemporary or historical control arm for future therapeutic development programs of drugs, devices, or biologic interventions in DMG or DIPG.
In this Phase I trial for subjects with advanced head & neck cancer, breast cancer, soft tissue sarcoma or melanoma all subjects will receive open label X-PACT treatment as a intra-tumoral injection. The primary objective will be to establish the safety of X-PACT when dosed with 5 intra-tumoral injections of the combination product (the phosphor device and methoxsalen sterile solution and subsequently exposing the tumor to X-ray energy) over a period of 6 weeks (on day D1, D3 and D5 of Week 1, on D1 of Week 2, and a booster on D1 of Week 6). After the week 8 tumor assessment subjects demonstrating stable disease, partial response or...
The objective of the study is to create a common and unique platform for the acquisition of biological samples and, subsequently, the possible identification of predictive and prognostic biomarkers for young adults with gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine cancers. The definition "adolescent and young adults (AYA)" covers a broad group of patients ranging from the upper limit of the paediatric competence to the youngest patients usually considered and treated as adults. However, a well-defined and universally accepted age range is still not established. Young adults with cancer have distinct epidemiological, biological, and clinical ...
This trial studies how well Young Melanoma Family Facebook intervention or Healthy Lifestyle Facebook intervention works in improving skin examination in participants with melanoma and their families. Young Melanoma Family Facebook intervention or Healthy Lifestyle Facebook intervention may help improve total cutaneous examinations, skin self-examinations, and sun protection among first degree relatives of young onset participants and the participants themselves.
This study will be performed to evaluate the Clinical Outcomes and Quality of Life after Transarterial Radioembolization with Yttrium-90 (TARE-Y90) in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults with Liver Tumors. The treatment and techniques used here are well established in adults. The purpose of this study is to evaluate: 1. the response to treatment and clinical outcomes of treatment with TARE Y-90 as part of standard therapy and 2. to assess the change in the patient's quality of life before, during and after treatment with TARE-Y90
